In the beginning, the world was only water. One day, a powerful woman fell from the sky. Two birds came flying over, flew under her, breaking her fall, and then called the other animals for help. The animals knew that the woman would not survive in the water. She needed something solid to live on. They tried diving into the water to bring up dirt from the bottom of the ocean. Each animal took its turn at diving into the water. Most of them ran out of breath, then finally a toad went down and was able to bring up some dirt in his mouth. The woman took the dirt and spread it on a turtle's shell. This was the start of the Earth. The land grew until it formed a country, and then another country, and eventually all the Earth. Na počátku byla na světě jen voda. Jednoho dne spadla z nebe mocná žena. Dva ptáci k ní přiletěli a letěli pod ní, aby zpomalili její pád, a poté zavolali ostatní zvířata, aby pomohla. Zvířata věděla, že by žena ve vodě nepřežila. Potřebovala žít na něčem pevném. Snažili se potápět do vody, aby přinesly půdu ze dna oceánu. Zvířata se střídala v potápění do vody. Většině z nich došel dech, až konečně ropucha se potopila dolů a byla schopna přinést trochu půdy ve své tlamě. Žena vzala půdu a rozprostřela ji po želvým krunýři. Tohle byl začátek Země.
